What do mobile phones have in common with peacebuilding?

 The basics…

In recent years, applications of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have begun to emerge in the context of development cooperation, crisis management and peacebuilding. 

There are plenty of examples from around the world, but CMI has previously explored the use of ICTs in crisis management, as well as more recently in post-conflict state-building.

Monet onnellisuustutkimukset, mutta myös kenen tahansa omat kokemukset todentavat sen, että antamisesta tulee hyvä mieli.

Suomalaiset ovatkin ahkeria lahjoittamaan esimerkiksi katastrofien uhreille – varsinkin suurten kampanjoiden aikaan, jos media jaksaa rummuttaa aiheesta. Tammikuussa SPR:n katastrofikeräys Haitin uhreille keräsi 350 000 euroa kahdessa päivässä suurilta osin yksityisiltä lahjoittajilta. Myös niinsanotut toisenlaiset joululahjat, kuten vaikkapa koulutarvikkeet kehitysmaan lapsille, ovat monille tuttuja viime vuosilta.

Muunlainen antaminen tai  hyväntekeväisyys laajemmassa mittakaavassa onkin sitten suomalaisille vaikeaa  – toisin kuin esimerkiksi Yhdysvalloissa.
